At GWI, we're constantly searching for exceptional individuals who like having a significant effect. For a crucial position in our Platform team within our Software Engineering team in Athens, we are now seeking a Staff Backend Engineer. Continue reading if it describes you and you get out of bed in the morning to make a difference. It may mark the beginning of something—well, something exceptional.
That sounds fantastic. What am I going to do?
As a Staff Engineer, you will be in charge of creating APIs that facilitate smooth client interactions and cross-platform integrations of GWI data. Working with technologies like Go, React, Typescript, and Google Cloud, you will solve challenging technical problems, lead the team through the whole API lifecycle, and make important architectural choices.
Working for a growing firm is all about changing things up, and it's also fun. As we expand, you will thus need to be adaptable, at ease with constant change, and ready to operate in a fast-paced setting.
What should I bring with me? The team will be looking for the following:
. Proven experience coding with Go, Java/C#, Ruby, and Node.js, as well as working with frontend frameworks like React or Angular.
. Strong software development skills, with expertise in concurrency patterns, modular design, and optimizing client-facing APIs.
. In-depth knowledge of API design principles (authentication, versioning, error handling, and security), with an emphasis on quality through Test Driven Development (TDD).
. Proficiency in Agile approaches (e.g., JIRA, Git), deployment automation, and continuous integration, with the ability to adjust to changing needs.
. Strong understanding and practical experience with continuous integration and deployment automation principles.
. Considerable expertise with Test Driven Development (TDD), guaranteeing dependable, high-quality API code.
. Capacity to suggest and guide architectural choices that satisfy customer demands and corporate goals.
. Prior experience integrating LLMs for AI-driven or natural language processing activities is advantageous.
. Outstanding communication abilities in both written and spoken English.
Equally crucial is attitude.
Our leadership team exemplifies our values, which are a key part of what we're looking for in you: question why (to discover a better way), think large (to make an effect), and show respect (to everyone, at every level, all the time).
Steps of the interview:  Initial phone call with the Talent Team (no video is needed) Technical task in Github Second (and last*) video interview with the hiring panel, where the task is discussed, followed by a values discussion with representatives of the larger GWI community. *Don't worry if there are additional steps in the process; they are all planned for some of our roles.
What is GWI exactly?
. GWI is updated consumer research that is available to everyone, not just data specialists, and is conducted globally and on-demand. Our platform is intended for businesses seeking new and useful information on the values, purchasing patterns, media consumption, and social media activity of their customers.
. GWI is currently the go-to resource for agencies, brands, and media businesses looking to understand what motivates their audience to take action, thanks to data that represents the opinions of around 3 billion people in 52+ countries.
. We've expanded at a healthy rate since our 2009 inception, and we need more exceptional individuals to keep up this development. Thus, this advertisement. Thus, you.
What do I stand to gain?
You'll work on the projects that initially inspired you to pursue your career—not as a cog in a machine, but as a person whose input counts. Huge job satisfaction is therefore expected, but it is only one aspect of the package. Additionally, you will receive:
. Worldwide advantages Many days off: 25 days of yearly leave | Office closures at the end of the year
. In addition to a competitive compensation, there is private health insurance and an employee share plan.
. Excellent work-life balance: flexible scheduling, early Friday ends, remote work choices, and a budget for "work from home"
. Flexibility for families: more parental leave, caregiver days, and private family insurance
