Location: Sharjah, AE

Position Summary: 
To assess patient needs, design, administer, and evaluate ICU patient care plans. Lead junior and auxiliary team members. Provide safe, ethical nursing care that complies with hospital, international, and federal standards and regulations. 
Summary of the main duties: 
Actively supports and promotes the vision and culture of University Hospital Sharjah (UHS). Conforms to all UHS rules, procedures, and fire regulations. Participates in all elements of the foreign Accreditation Program, assisting UHS in meeting and maintaining foreign accreditation requirements. Implements nursing practice in accordance with facility, MOH, JCI, and FDON policies, procedures, and standards. Assesses, plans, implements and evaluates the nursing care of each patient, considering the patient’s individuality, abilities, culture and right to choose. Prioritizes patients’ individual needs and delegated aspects of nursing care to other nursing team members within his/her scope of professional practice. Performs nursing care in response to the patient’s needs, treatment plan and nursing care plan, supported by nursing knowledge and current best practices. Assists physicians with examinations, procedures, and other aspects of direct patient care. Documents each patient's nursing care from admission to discharge in compliance with the facility's medical record and documentation policies. Assists and offers documented patient and family health education in accordance with the patient's particular nursing care plan. Ensures patient and staff safety by implementing infection control methods, adhering to worldwide patient safety goals, and following facility health and safety rules. Collaborates with the multidisciplinary team and serves as a patient advocate to ensure that quality care is provided. Adhere to the facility's drug safety policy, delivering prescription medications, including opioids, within the scope of practice. Monitors the patient's condition and notifies any changes to the appropriate personnel. Responsibilities: 
It include being sensitive to patients' comfort and privacy, and showing interest in their success. Utilizes and maintains equipment and instruments, promptly reporting any damage to the bio-medical department and the nurse in charge. Participates in nursing continuous quality improvement initiatives, in service education programs, unit meetings and committee functions as assigned by the nurse in charge. Initiates emergencies, safety practices and fire safety measures as necessary. Reports all incidents through agreed channels and chain of command, ensuring the incident report is completed, submitted to the nurse in charge, and any immediate action required is taken. Maintains unit stock, consumables, and crash cart stock, in accordance with facility policy on medication expiry dates and the safe location of consumable items. Always maintains and respects patient confidentiality. Responsible for attending yearly mandatory training as specified in the mandated training calendar. Responsible for professional clinical practice and actively participates in knowledge expansion through educational activities. Performs additional job-related activities as assigned (within the scope of practice). The employment terms and circumstances for this position are detailed in the specific employment contract. 
Position Requirements/Qualifications: 
Required: 
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing holding a BSc Nursing or Diploma of Nursing, not less than 3 years study duration. Minimum 2 years of post-graduate experience, with at least one year in the present specialty. BLS certificate. Desirable. Advanced Life support. Pediatric Advanced life support. Position criteria Other Skills/Abilities. 2 years of postgraduate experience. Computer-literate and comfortable with Microsoft Word and Excel. Must be fluent in written and spoken English; spoken Arabic is an advantage. 
Advantage: 
Previous UAE experience. Experience in a commissioning environment. Experience working at an international-approved hospital (JCIA). Participated in preceptor/Education programs.

Have knowledge of current evidence-based nursing practice. Demonstrate proven success in collaborating with peers & colleagues and being able to work in a diverse, multi-cultural environment. Basic data management & analytical skills.
