Responsibilities:
To support the goal of Zayed University, envision and offer the greatest information technology resources and services based on exceptional practices. Envision and provide innovative IT resources and services in support of the university’s educational and administrative goals that employ leading edge, exemplary practices and maximize cost and productivity. Take the lead in developing technology solutions for ongoing data management systems, administrative and academic support systems, and more. Assist the institution with assigned functions by providing technical experience, information, and support; also, offer aid when necessary in the creation of policies, procedures, and programs. Ensure the proactive support of students, staff, and faculty with regards to technological issues. Inspire, develop, and manage the technology staff using quality service techniques in order to provide timely and accurate IT systems and services at high levels of customer satisfaction. Supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff; interview and select employees and recommend transfers, reassignment, termination, and disciplinary actions; plan, coordinate and arrange for appropriate training of subordinates; and respond to various personnel and staff issues. Represent the Computing Services Department on designated committees and attend and lead a range of meetings, including staff, committee, and other meetings as assigned. Participate in the Educational Technology Standing Committee on behalf of the department. The development of IT facilities, programs, and services involves the planning, organizing, and execution of both short- and long-term plans and activities. Develop and prepare assigned budgets; analyze and review budgetary and financial data; control and authorize expenditures in accordance with established university policies; determine the allocation of budget and staffing resources to obtain departmental goals. Oversee the creation and upkeep of IT benchmarks and a range of narrative and statistical reports pertaining to the services, activities, and programs that are assigned to you. Communicate with other administrators, university personnel, and contractors to coordinate activities and programs, resolve issues and conflicts, and exchange information; negotiate with vendors and contractors per university policies. Take overall charge of the technology component of the new campus, building, and other facility design, construction, and commissioning. Communicate with an Educational Technology unit to offer guidance and guarantee that the necessary technological infrastructure is in place to support their work with sufficient resources. Is responsible for ensuring that the IT department runs smoothly and effectively. Handles a wide range of internal and external clients from various departments and levels. interacts with vendors and all significant university administration entities. Shares information about other departments' IT needs with them. regularly communicates with supervisors, faculty, staff, directors, and deans. Has occasional interactions with students. collaborates with a range of contractors to handle the technological component of building new facilities. A master's degree in a related field from an accredited institution is required, as is at least ten years of progressively more responsible experience in an IT environment for higher education. This experience must include five years of management with a track record of steadily increasing responsibility in a complex organization, preferably in higher education. or a comparable set of training, expertise, and experience. comprehensive understanding of the deployment of corporate systems in order to oversee and manage technical personnel. familiarity with both a somewhat decentralized and centralized organizational structure in a multi-campus setting. Capable of effectively and cooperatively exchanging knowledge both in writing and orally. Exhibits a commitment to providing excellent service.
