Apheris is revolutionizing the use of sensitive data for AI and advanced analytics in the healthcare and pharmaceutical sectors. We are creating the biggest healthcare and life sciences data network in the world using federated computing and artificial intelligence. We are seeking a leader with a strong background in pharmaceutical research and development who is driven by science as we get ready for our next stage of expansion. An executive with the ability to find high-impact scientific use cases, define our target market, and interact directly with top R&D stakeholders at pharmaceutical companies—particularly those involved in drug discovery—is needed for this position. As a member of our executive team, you will work closely with our VP of Product, Eli, CTO and co-founder Michael, and VP of Engineering, Ero, all of whom will report directly to our CEO, Robin. By focusing on key R&D areas, you will shape our go-to-market strategy as VP of Life Sciences, bridging the scientific and strategic facets of our company. Knowing the main AI techniques used in drug research and discovery will help you identify the scientific applications and customer use cases where Apheris may be most helpful. This position is ideal for you if you want to contribute to the development of a noteworthy business that makes a big difference at the nexus of data connection, security, and AI in life science.
What you will do Market definition and use case development:
. Create and implement go-to-market strategies tailored to the life science industries with the goal of broad adoption of the Apheris Compute Gateways at leading international life science organizations.
. This includes: Identifying key senior R&D stakeholders and strategic Pharma accounts; gaining a deep understanding of their scientific needs and challenges; . defining specific scientific use cases for our product—finding pertinent models, data types, disease areas, and drug discovery tasks that align with our capabilities and industry demands; and developing a deep understanding of how our solutions benefit these clients.

. Oversight of customer use cases: Take the lead in creating scientific ideas that are suited to our clients' R&D requirements and offer supervision as projects progress. Among the duties are:
. Oversee the interaction with top scientific representatives, including vice presidents of computational drug discovery.
. creating and overseeing the creation of scientific ideas and SoWs that are specifically suited to our clients' R&D needs.
. Engage in proactive pre- and post-sales activities to boost client value generation and hasten the sales process. Taking charge of the use case creation for our most important accounts is part of this.
. Contractual and intellectual property considerations: Work with legal and commercial teams to draft contracts that safeguard intellectual property while promoting cooperative and profitable relationships.
. Partnership development: Create and maintain strategic alliances with academic institutions, model suppliers, and life science software providers to improve the ecosystem surrounding the Apheris Compute Gateways.
. Product function collaboration: Use customer and partner insights to inform product strategy and serve as a spokesperson for science and customer needs. . . Executive oversight: Participate in the executive team (one of five members), establishing overall company priorities and promoting operational excellence.
You should apply if:
you have a thorough scientific understanding of pharmaceutical R&D priorities, including the data requirements for individual drug candidates and early-stage drug discovery, and you can identify the best AI models to support R&D and development processes. You have expert knowledge of AI approaches relevant to drug discovery, including the reasons why certain models are effective for specific R&D use cases, and you can effectively discuss their applications with computational scientists. You have experience leading scientific initiatives from start to finish, including leading the work of computational scientists; you have experience developing scientific proposals for pharmaceutical companies; and you have produced results that clearly benefit life science R&D stakeholders.
You are aware of intellectual property issues and comprehend the subtleties of economic value exchange in partnerships in the life sciences industry.

. You have a strong network in the pharmaceutical and life sciences sector, particularly with R&D executives, and you understand the goals and difficulties they deal with.
