Description:
Tumour weight in disseminated cancer, including an algorithmic quantitative evaluation along with evaluation of lesions.
We think that you are here because you have a strong interest in developing algorithms for quantitative evaluation and analysing complex imaging data.
Is it possible that you are adept at incorporating novel concepts, approaches, and data-driven analysis techniques into your workflow?
Along with having established collaboration and communication abilities from your general experience, you would also fit right in this collaborative research atmosphere because of your inherent qualities. If you are able to tick these boxes, you should read on.
Enhancing the use of computed tomography (CT) images for comprehensive and quantitative evaluations of disease characteristics from baseline (pre-treatment) examinations and treatment response from follow-up examinations is the overarching goal of this PhD research programme in metastatic cancer.
This will be accomplished by creating cutting-edge, data-driven image analysis tools that are applied to a variety of sizable, public and private datasets.
These approaches will include innovative segmentation and picture registration algorithms.
Welcome to Antaros Medical:
This is a PhD industrial post with Antaros Medical.
The doctorate student must be admitted by the Committee for Research Education (KUF) at the Uppsala University faculty in order to be considered for the industrial PhD post.
At Antaros Medical, we bring together state-of-the-art imaging technology, extensive drug development expertise, and in-depth understanding of disease causes.
Oncology and cardiorenal and metabolic illnesses are our areas of expertise.
In addition to Big Pharma and Biotechs, we have a global network of collaboration partners and clients that spans various European collaboration projects, including Innovative Medicine Initiative (IMI) and COST.
With our cutting-edge imaging techniques, Antaros Medical has completed multi-center clinical trials across the globe in addition to modest, difficult mechanistic research.
Sweden is home to our global headquarters, imaging Corelab, and a newly established US division. For additional information about our organisation, kindly visit www.antarosmedical.com.
Our principles define who we are as a people and our culture defines who we are.
To learn much more about who we are, feel free to peruse our Culture Hand book Our way of life, Antaros Medical.
Surgical Sciences Department, Uppsala University, PhD programme.
Research on imaging and functional diagnostic approaches is carried out by the Department of Surgical Sciences - Radiology. From large-scale epidemiological studies on volunteers to clinical trials on patients, the developed methods are applied in a wide range of research settings, including animal experimentation. Radiology is the topic of the research, which is being conducted by multiple research organisations.
Our research group, Radiological Image Analysis, specialises in sophisticated image analysis techniques to enhance patient diagnosis and follow-up for patients with different cancer types.
The group's members are highly qualified to conduct innovative technological research with significant therapeutic relevance because of their interdisciplinary backgrounds.
 Requirements and qualifications:
In order to be eligible to apply for PhD studies, you need to:
possess a Master's (second-cycle) degree in a field related to the research for your PhD. possess at least 240 college credits, 60 of which must be earned at the master's level, including at least 15 credits from an independent project; alternatively, possess substantially similar expertise through other means.
Proficiency in both written and spoken professional English is vital, as is the ability to instruct students successfully in either Swedish or English.
It is very helpful to have experience in medical image processing, image registration, 3D visualisation, programming, and mathematics.
We think that as a person, you are very analytical, detail-oriented, and that you flourish when faced with new challenges and concepts.
We would also quickly ascertain that you are a team player, which is quite important for success in this area of study. Uppsala University's policies and guidelines, as well as Chapter 5 of the Higher Education Ordinance, §§ 1–7, contain regulations pertaining to PhD candidates. a component of a nationwide programme in life science powered by data.
Computational techniques and artificial intelligence are applied to the study of biological systems and processes at all scales, from molecular structures and cellular functions to human health and global ecosystems, in the discipline of data-driven life science (DDLS).
The goal of the Wallenberg National Programme for Data-Driven Life Science (DDLS) in collaboration with SciLifeLab is to develop globally-leading computational and data science skills in Sweden, as well as to attract and educate the next generation of data-driven life scientists.
The programme has received funding from the Knut and Alice Wallenberg (KAW) Foundation totaling 3.1 billion SEK (about 290 MUSD) over a 12-year period.
The DDLS Research School is scheduled to open in 2024, welcoming 20 PhD students from academia and 7 from industry.
The Research School will include more than 260 PhD students and 200 postdocs for the duration of the DDLS programme.
Four critical areas comprise the DDLS programme biology of infection, precision medicine and diagnostics, evolution and biodiversity, cell and molecular biology, and epidemiology.
Please visit: DDLS research school for additional details. Antaros Medical is looking for a PhD candidate in data-driven precision medicine and diagnostics for a collaborative industrial-academic research project with Uppsala University within the context of the DDLS Research School.
Life research will be data-driven in the future.
Are you going to be a part of that shift? Join us then for this special programme! Data integration, analysis, visualisation, and interpretation are all part of data-driven precision medicine and diagnostics, which includes finding biomarkers for disease risks, diagnosing conditions, evaluating medication responses, and tracking patient health.
It is anticipated that the precision medicine research would leverage the robust resources that are currently available both domestically and internationally, including imaging, biobanks, longitudinal patient and population registries, electronic health care records, and molecular data (e.g., omics).
 Are you interested?
Warm welcome to apply with a cover letter and your CV included, no later than 9th June 2024.
