JOB TITLE: Chief Financial Officer (CFO) 
TEAM MEMBERS: Approximately 5 direct reports and 13 indirect reports at the regional level. 
REPORT TO: the executive secretary. 
CLASS: I1 
DURATION: A two-year initial contract with potential for renewal. 
LOCATION: Sweden's Stockholm

 BACKGROUND: 
A multi-stakeholder action network, the Global Water Partnership (GWP) aims to assist nations in managing their water resources in a fair, sustainable, and effective manner. The Global Water Partnership Organisation (GWPO), an intergovernmental organisation with its headquarters located in Stockholm, Sweden, and hosted by the Swedish government, is in charge of managing the global network. Serving as the worldwide network's secretariat, GWPO brings together, facilitates, represents, and executes coordinated action from both public and private sector actors. The GWPO Secretariat team is made up of 17 enthusiastic employees as well as outside consultants who work remotely and in Stockholm to support the efforts of all GWP stakeholders, such as institutional partners, country water partnerships, and regional water partnerships (RWPs). Working with financial experts in GWP's approved RWPs and counterparts in the Country Water Partnerships, the worldwide Secretariat's financial management services are a vital component of the GWP Network's architecture. In order to guarantee outstanding coordination, unwavering honesty, and conspicuous levels of professional quality in all GWPO financial management practices and procedures, the CFO position is essential. Through this effort, GWPO is able to establish and uphold confidence with all funding and financial partners, and all local, regional, and international development partners of GWP are able to successfully contribute to actions and outcomes that result in increased water security. In order to maintain the integrity of financial operations throughout the network, GWPO's transparent, auditable, and dependable financial management techniques and processes must be trusted by all GWP partners and stakeholders. 
At GWPO, we uphold top-notch financial reporting and information systems, and throughout our country and regional teams, we foster excellence in financial management by fusing certification with capacity growth. We maintain and make ongoing investments in information sharing and sound financial practices across the network. 
Now, as part of GWPO's small but mighty secretariat team, we are searching for an experienced, committed, and goal-oriented Chief Financial Officer (CFO) who will help us further sustain, strengthen, and expand our financial and administrative management systems and practices, both within GWPO and throughout our global network.
 SCOPE OF THIS POSITION: 
The CFO is responsible for making sure that all of the Secretariat's daily financial and finance-related administrative operations run smoothly. The CFO will report to the Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer (ES & CEO) and will be in charge of all GWPO financial and procurement processes at the directorate level. They will also share accountability for finance-related processes pertaining to information technology, facilities management, administration, and human resources. In order to guarantee sound financial administration throughout the 13 recognised GWP Regional Water Partnerships, the CFO also has supervision duties.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE: 
A degree from a university in management, accounting, finance, or business administration. 
A minimum of fifteen years of experience in the private, public, and non-profit sectors in financial, HR, and related administrative management. 
A minimum of seven years of managerial experience in the fields of finance and administration, preferably in an international setting, managing teams or units with shown technical leadership and supervisory skills prior Expertise with networks is seen as a plus. 
Strong familiarity with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
 Experience in auditing or something comparable is a big plus.
 Demonstrated ability to think strategically and creatively. strong integrity and interpersonal abilities, especially a strong ability to negotiate.
 The ability to address and impart practical knowledge to a global audience is a highly esteemed aspect of training. 
A benefit is experience in countries that are developing or the global setting.
 Outstanding English communication skills both in writing and speaking. 
It is deemed advantageous to have a working knowledge of Swedish, Spanish, French, and other languages. 
Strong in MS Office 365 and has excellent knowledge of MS Excel and other financial management software that is transferable.
 A solid understanding of technology and how to use it to improve an organization's workflow, communications, and online resources.
