Dentizes and uses the 1CD-9-CM and CPT-4 coding systems to code inpatient records in accordance with diagnosis and procedure for the sake of payment, research, and compliance with federal laws. Using official coding guidelines, the Coding Clinic, and all official Uniform Hospital Discharge Data Set (UHDDS) definitions, the correct principal diagnosis, comorbidities and complications (CCs), secondary diagnoses, POA (Present on Admission) indicators, HAC (Hospital-Acquired Conditions), principal procedure codes, and secondary procedure codes are assigned. Code patient accounts using the relevant ICD-9-CM and CPT codes. As needed, compile and summarize all clinical and statistical data. Checking each patient record to ensure accuracy, summarizes each documented diagnosis and procedure in accordance with the AHIMA Code of Ethics and established HIM principles, coding and abstracting all pertinent data.
